    Deadline for PCF-PECS

    PCF-PECS Deadline Extended

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) announced this week that the deadline for primary care practices to authorize a survey vendor for the Primary Care First (PCF) Patient Experience of Care Survey (PECS) has been extended to July 15, 2021. The original deadline for authorizing a survey vendor was June 30.

What primary care practices are affected?

PCF-PECS is required for primary care practices participating in the Primary Care First program as part of their performance-based adjustment. Groups that fail to authorize a survey vendor before the deadline will be awarded zero points for this year’s PECS score. Additionally, these groups will not meet the Quality Gateway for this performance year.

There is still time to authorize a survey vendor

As a CMS-approved PCF-PECS vendor, SurveyVitals can help you meet all requirements for participating in the program this year. SurveyVitals has many years of experience as a CAHPS survey vendor, and our experts are here to answer any questions you may have.

    What is PCF-PECS?

2021 is the inaugural year of the Primary Care First program. According to CMS, the program was designed to enhance quality of care, improve patient experience of care, and reduce the cost of care provided. Primary care practices participating in the Primary Care First program may receive additional revenue based on their performance.

With the goal of accurately measuring performance, CMS designed a set of clinical quality and patient experience measures to assess quality of care. One of the most important quality measures is the Patient Experience of Care Survey, which analyzes patient reported experience of care.

In order to be eligible to participate in the program and receive additional revenue based on performance, primary care practices must authorize a survey vendor before the July 15 deadline. Learn more about the SurveyVitals PCF-PECS program.
